Glenn B. Dowers Sr. founded Cyber-Tech, Inc. in 1982 in Portland Oregon after an extensive career serving in the United States Navy while working with defense contractors, engineers and major industrial manufacturers in the design and application of automated controls and manufacturing systems. The name, Cyber-Tech, is an acronym of Cybernetics Technology-the science of communications and automatic control systems in machines.
Glenn saw a unique opportunity to manufacture a line of multiple switch control grips to meet the growing demand for high quality controls in the rapidly expanding field of automated equipment. He differentiated his approach to the market by selling industrial controls through quality customer service. The first product design was the model 1200 Handy-Grips®. The 1200 Handy-Grips® could be easily custom configured to a customer's exact requirements, while still being competitively priced with the competition's off the shelf products.
In addition to making a quality industrial grade control handle and joysticks, Cyber-Tech offered a "try it before you buy it" 100% guarantee with a no hassle return policy. This meant that the customer could order a custom configured 1200 Handy-Grips® and if it did not meet their expectations for any reason they could return it for a full 100% credit.
